About COM
The Committee on Ministry is responsible for the health of ministry in the presbytery, attending to the well-being of congregations and their faithfulness in responding to God’s call — as well as the nurture, support, and professional development of church professionals, including Ministers of the Word and Sacrament, Commissioned Ruling Elders, and Commissioned Pastors.
As of April 19, 2024, COM merged its two previous sub-committees (East Bay and West Bay) into one unified committee, enabling faster response to the needs of ministers and congregations throughout the presbytery.
COM Is Available To
- Visit regularly and consult with each minister in the presbytery
- Make recommendations to presbytery regarding calls for the services of its ministers
- Visit with each session of the presbytery at least once every three years
- Counsel with churches and their Pastor Nominating Committees regarding permanent pastoral relations
- Counsel with churches regarding interim, stated supply, CRE, or designated pastor relationships
- Evaluate and approve calls, approve examinations of transferring ministers, and dissolve pastoral relationships
- Counsel with sessions regarding difficulties in congregations
